Matter of Fact Minimalism

recent paintings by Michael Wynne

Tender Trap

Drunk Tank

Nick Lowe

Kenneth Mars

Wynne is interested in making minimalist paintings with a non-spiritual, mystical or of religious interest.  He has been doing matter of fact minimalist paintings since his college days in the late 70’s.  In the most recent works, Wynne is taking a workman like approach to the most democratic of all art forms to create modest paintings which are relatively small in scale using supplies from local hardware stores and hobby shops.

My friend Robert Moore has been busy with watercolors lately.

Randy Twaddle at Holly Johnson Gallery

Tip toed into Holly Johnson Gallery to see Randy Twaddle's works on paper.  It was nice to see his work after a long absence, at least for me, of showing in the Dallas area.

CROSS TALK at Circuit 12

CROSS TALK: an exhibition featuring works by Sterling Allen and Brad Tucker curated by Nathan Green at Circuit 12 Contemporary
12 January 2013 - 20 February 2013.

My first visit to Circuit 12 and was surprised that I was completely unaware of this gallery.  It is a nice space.  I know over the years I have narrowed my focus to artists I respond to and have followed for many years.  It was Brad Tucker's work that brought me to Circuit 12.  Brad's work which has been a favorite of mine since first seeing his work in 1998.

According to Circuit 12's website this was the first iteration of Regional Quarterly, a new program implemented that will place emphasis on the works and concepts of Texas based artists, curators, and collectives.

Regional Quarterly will happen 3-4 times per year beginning January 12th, 2013. The gallery and will bring together contemporary artists and visionaries throughout the state of Texas to share concepts and dialog with the Dallas market place, providing a platform for regional artists to expose their works and network with other Texas based creatives.
