Arthur Peña @ Oliver Francis Gallery

Oliver Francis Gallery is sprinting miles ahead in the Dallas Art scene.  I hope Kevin continues to raise the bar which is sorely needed in Dallas.

The lastest exhibition, I can't even make every single exhibition, is "ever / always / elsewhere" by Arthur Peña .  Peña  is a recent grad of RISD.

Stopped by the Dallas Contemporary today to see Erwin Wurm exhibition/installation.  I continue to encounter great exhibitions at the Contemporary.  This one does not disappoint.

Reverses Wiped Away

New work by David Aylsworth at Inman Gallery.  This body of work is my favorite by David Aylsworth so far.  I have liked his work since the mid 90's and this is, to me, his best.  The white paintings.  The paintings were lumpy and covered his normal patterns underneath white paint.  This is an exhibition not to be missed.

Moliere and Keats are Enraged and Engaged in a Row, 2010, oil on canvas, 60x98
Down and Down I Go, 2011, 36x40
Bridges All Were Crossed, 2012, 23x23
Boring From Within, 2012, 14x30
Nightingale Without, 2012, 12x16

My favorite painting, "Indubitably", is reproduced on the Glasstire review of David's exhibition.

Jason Villegas studio visit

My friend, Michael, and I visited with Jason Villegas Saturday morning.  Jason is a bright young artist whose STAR should be on the rise.  His work is unique, smart, and likable.

Various completed and in process works in Jason's studio.

A wonderful sculpture.

Stars!

Frank X Tolbert and Ann Stautberg studio visit

Michael Wynne and I visited with Frank X. Tolbert and his wife Ann Stautberg on Friday, June 15th.  A wonderful bungelow in the Houston Heights area.  The 2 story studios were behind the house - Frank's down and Ann's up.

I can't wait to vist Frank and Ann again!

Frank's studio shots:

Dick Higgins Gallery inside Oliver Francis Gallery

Got a chance to see the DB12 exhibition in Oliver Francis Gallery's Dick Higgins Gallery (that's correct) at Jeff Gibbons' opening tonight.  Not sure how long this exhibition will be up.  However, it was nice to see another installation by Stephen Lapthisophon and others' that I am not familiar with.
