Chris Powell: this is not a step

Michael Wynne and I stopped by Brookhaven College on Thursday evening for the (mid-)  exhibition reception for Chris Powell.  What a stunning exhibition.  Met Chris for the first time and had an opportunity to talk with him about his work and new studio.  Michael and Chris have known each other for a while and both were represented by Foster Goldstrom in the 80's.  The exhibition is up until September 26th so there is plenty of time to visit and spend some time with this exhibition.

Complete exhibition checklist:
 1. three folding chairs - found objects, plaster

2. yellow dog, blue cup - ceramic

3. this is not a step - found objects, plaster, straw

where is the power

Made it through the road construction, college kids darting around heavy traffic to the Fort Worth Contemporary Arts at TCU and it was worth the trouble.   The current exhibition "where is the power" was curated by Terri Thornton and includes Valeska Soares, Mona Hatoum, Chris Powell, Liam Gillick, Robert Kinmont, Richard Wentworth, Alejandro Cesarco,  Fred Sandback, Cornelia Parker, Josiah McElheny, Glenn Ligon, Kris Pierce and one of my most favorite artists John Wilcox.
